Three minutes, interactive
Check whether I'd be a solution for you
Rather than me telling you I can help, work it out for yourself. This walks you through the five things that quietly cost solo practitioners money, compares your options honestly, including the ones that aren't me, and lets you decide.
What you'll actually get
- A mirror held up to your week, with nothing sugar-coated.
- A thirty second diagnostic on your offers, your leads and your selling.
- An honest comparison of a course, a big coach, an agency and doing nothing.
- The full detail of how I work, including the price and the limits.
- No pitch until you press the button that asks for one.
Your email is the price of admission, and that's the whole trade. I'll send you the odd genuinely useful thing about the business side of a practice. Unsubscribe in one click, and I won't pass your details to anyone.
Already given me your email? This page remembers you on this device.

You're brilliant at the work. So why isn't the business working?
A three minute walk through why, and what to do about it. From Joby Malkin.

The mirror
Does any of this sound like your week?
Pick your work and these get closer to home.
Tap the ones you recognise.
None of that means you're bad at business. It means nobody ever built you one.
The real problem
Let's name the real problem.
It isn't marketing. It isn't discipline. And it definitely isn't you. Your practice has no backbone.
Three things hold a solo business upright: offers people understand at a glance, a path that turns interest into bookings, and a money conversation you don't dread. Wobble on any one of those and everything above it aches.
Thirty seconds. Be honest.
Five questions. Nothing is stored and nothing is sent.
Your options, honestly
You've probably already thought about the options.
Open a door to see the honest version. 0 of 4.
There's a fifth door. Someone who builds the backbone with you, coaches you through the selling until it feels like yours, and charges like they remember what solo money looks like. Want to see inside?
The fifth door
The Backbone. One month, laid out honestly.
Notice what's missing: fluff, a 40 module curriculum, and anything that ignores your actual week.
Proof
Don't take my word for it.
The catch
The limits are deliberate.
You've met the coach who's "always there". Six months later they're burnt out, the replies slow down, and you're paying for their recovery. The Backbone has edges on purpose.
- Two calls a month, booked and used.
- One build, capped and finished.
- One message channel, answered within two working days, business days only.
The edges are what keep me sharp for you. They're also what keeps this at solo-practitioner money instead of agency money.
The Clinic
The hour that fixes the loneliness.
Solo work is quiet in a way nobody warns you about. Once a month, everyone in The Backbone sits in one room for an hour. Someone brings the enquiry they don't know how to price. Someone brings the conversation that stalled. The room works on it together, and I coach.
What's said in the room stays in the room. It's the part people tell me they'd keep if they could only keep one thing.
The fit
This works if three things are true.
Good. Last screen's the maths, then it's your call.
If that's not you yet, no hard feelings. Keep your quiz results, take the free stuff on the site, and come back when it is.
The maths
What it costs, and why.
£250a month
The first four founding members pay £200, locked for a year, in exchange for honest feedback along the way and a testimonial when it's earned. For most practitioners that's one or two sessions a month. If the backbone we build doesn't win you that back and more, I'm doing something wrong, and we'd talk about that too.
- Three month minimum so we can actually build something.
- Then rolling monthly. Leave with 30 days' notice.
- No contracts designed to trap you. The work should be why you stay.
The next step
One conversation. No ambush.
Thirty minutes, free. You talk, I listen, and we look at your whole situation: offers, leads, the money conversation, the lot. If The Backbone fits, I'll say so and show you exactly how it would work for you. If it doesn't, I'll tell you that too and point you somewhere genuinely useful. Either way, you leave with one thing to fix this week.
Joby.
